As I was hanging wash out on the line for my Mom the other day, I realized something.
I liked doing this.
I realized something else, too.
Other chores that I didn't like to do didn't seem so bad, either.
I even found that washing the dishes wasn't that bad.
I liked helping my Mom.
I got to thinking...
I think there is something missing in this age.
Called initiative.
And helping someone out.
Maybe I should just call it niceness, because that's all it really is.
I mean, really, how hard is it to just get up from the supper table and start doing the dishes?
On your own....
without having to be told.
And the next time your mom might ask you to do something, give her a heart attack.
Okay, not literally, but do something that might.
Do it right away without complaining about how much you hate doing it, without rolling your eyes,
and without even asking "Why?".
I don't mean to say that I'm great at this.
It took me this long to figure it out.
Oh, and one more thing: do it with a smile.
Which means you're going to have to want to do it.
It may take practice. But our moms have been slaving over us for years, and what is it really gonna hurt you to help out once in a while?
Plus, I'm pretty sure God gave us moms to train us to be moms someday.
So, go out and look for ways that your mom might need help right now.
If you can't find anything, ask her what she needs help with.
But be ready to catch her;
She may pass out from shock!
