Frolicking in the Woods

Today I was kinda bored, so I decided to go in the woods with our dog.

We walked and ran on the trails.

Since today is May 1st (Happy Birthday to my brother!), we're now officially allowed to play in the creek.

So that's what I did with Diesel.

If I stopped, he would eat grass on the banks, and if he wasn't paying attention, I would run up the creek away from him.

He didn't appreciate that.

He chased me and then made sure I knew he didn't like it by barking at me. While I laughed at him, he went back to eating grass.

We did this a couple times.

Then I decided to take some pictures of the wildflowers in the woods.

 This is a May-apple flower.
This is Dies poking his wet black nose under the May-apple flower.

He was just snooping to see what I was doing.

I also took a picture of tree leaves down by the creek:

Then I raced Dies through the woods.

I love spending time like this. Going through the woods quietly (unless Dies is barking at some birds) with the dog, stopping every now and then to marvel or even laugh in delight at God's creation.

Sometimes I just need something to pick up my sagging spirits.

Frolicking in the woods with a crazy gray dog is one of those things.

And fresh wildflowers in an old glass bottle on the desk is another.
