Things for a Hope Chest
I have tried so many times to post this....I had it all typed up, just what I was going to say.
But it would not load.
So this is just some ramblings about what I've made lately for my hope chest.
Which is actually a bin.
Anyways...
The first few things were some ornaments that I bought at a craft sale and painted.
I really like the way they turned out, especially the snowflake. I painted is navy, then I painted over that with white. Then I sanded it....the blue came through just as I hoped it would.
Another thing I got at that craft sale was a wooden snowman for 50 cents.
He turned out really nice, too!
I had leftover white and green paint, so I thought, what could I paint?
Then I remembered that I had saved a piece of shale from coal country, planning to paint something on it....
If I could think of something.
I happened to glance up at the computer screen and saw my background.
PERFECT!
The Rocky Mountains!
In case you're wondering, I really like this one too.
Okay, the next things were bought at a yard sale.
Two antique bowls for 10 cents apiece, and a rolling pin. The man who sold it to me called it a husband beater. Usually you can't find old rolling pins for less than 10 dollars.
I got mine for 3. :]
Last of all, I worked on two quilts. I didn't take pictures of the one, but it was a baby quilt made of old crib sheets from my Grandma's house.
The other one is an antique quilt I got at a yard sale. I had to take some old pieces out and replace them because they were torn.
I like the pattern, which is log cabin, but the maker also made it so there were strips of dark and light materials.
Can you tell which pieces are replaced?
It's the one with stars and the one with bunnies.
I really like all of the projects that are completed. It brings to mind when God made everything and then said that "It was very good".
Someday I may have a home to fill with theses things.
But for now I will just keep waiting and praying.
