dolls

I found the idea for these dolls on Pinterest and I decided to make them for two little girls at my church who are my friends. I'm planning on giving them to the girls for Christmas. They're really simple to make so I thought I'd post about them.

Step One:
draw
It's supposed to look cartoony, so it's cute.

Step Two:
embroider.
I started by picking her hair color, then picked colors that would compliment it for her dress. I just used a plain ole back stitch for her whole body, except for her nose, which is a French knot.

Step Three:
cut
Lay the embroidered part on top of another piece of the same fabric and cut. I left plenty of room so that I could sew around and then stuff it. Kind of follow the shapes of the girl, so that the doll will be a little more 3-D.

Step Four:
sew
I hand sewed, but that's because I'm not all that skilled on the machine. I guess you could do either way. It's easier to sew with the embroidered side up, because then you know how close to sew. I sewed about 1/4 " away from the embroidery.

Step Five:
stuff
Okay, umm...stuff. Don't have any tips for this step.

After stuffing, tuck in the bottom raw edges and sew shut.

Step Six:
enjoy!
