{My Favorite Place}
My Favorite Place
Through the woods
In a breathless rush,
I run and feel branches
On my shoulder brush.
My feet are just clad
In my summertime shoes,
Nothing; bare feet is
The covering I choose.
Almost white-yellow is
The sun that chases me.
Almost transparent green
Is every leaf I see.
I'm coming to a creek now,
I hear it's waters play.
Normally I'd stop and join,
But, oh, I can't today.
For now I hear my Mama;
She calls for me to come.
I know why, and I hurry,
My rambles are now done.
She calls me for my favorite time
Of every single day.
The time when I join family
In the kitchen and we pray.
And then after my Daddy
Or brother has said the prayer,
We eat and talk and laugh and cry,
And join our hearts right there.
Where is there, you ask me?
My favorite place to be.
It's at the supper table
With all of my family.
Through the woods
In a breathless rush,
I run and feel branches
On my shoulder brush.
My feet are just clad
In my summertime shoes,
Nothing; bare feet is
The covering I choose.
Almost white-yellow is
The sun that chases me.
Almost transparent green
Is every leaf I see.
I'm coming to a creek now,
I hear it's waters play.
Normally I'd stop and join,
But, oh, I can't today.
For now I hear my Mama;
She calls for me to come.
I know why, and I hurry,
My rambles are now done.
She calls me for my favorite time
Of every single day.
