{my birthday present from Erin}
Four days ago was the last day of my birthday. I say it that way because this year Erin sent me 28 envelopes for my birthday, which is on the twenty-third. But, as we all know, when it isn't a leap year, there are 28 days in February. I was born in the special month. Anyways...
I wasn't looking forward to this birthday very much. Turning the big 2-0. I know, I know, that's nothing. But it was sad for me, because I wouldn't be a teenager anymore. And if you think that's strange, I have a friend who's feeling the same way this year. But Erin's present made me look forward to each day of my birthday month. And it even made me look forward to my birthday, because the envelope for that day didn't bend. So it was something different from all the other days.
Each day, I opened an envelope and received a verse, a memory, and a picture of me and at least one of my siblings.
There were pictures of us when we were small...
pictures of us all grown...
pictures of us far away and pictures of us at home...
pictures of two....
and pictures of three...
I hung them up for anyone to see.
My favorite thing about my present though,
is the fact that they are memories;
pictures of us, together.
Together forever, you and me.
So there you have it, Erin. You got a post about your present, and you got a poem too. I didn't even try that at first, but I did it again! Enjoy...
And thank you for the present. I guess twenty isn't so bad.
