{our new table}

Last Monday, my mechanic man and I went grocery shopping as usual. We'd gotten our income tax return, and talked about getting a new table. The one we had only sat two and was kinda rickety. So we went to three different K-marts before we found every part of the dining set we wanted.
I am so happy to have a nice, big, farmhouse style table! And benches. I like benches more than chairs because you can squeeze so many people on them. We did this back home all the time, and those times when we were jam-packed around the table with four people on each bench were always times of good fellowship and, of course, good food.
 The top is a nice dark wood, and I had to wipe it down with vinegar water to stop the static cling it had. Although, right now, everything is static-y.
 Right now the other chair is being used for my desk in one of the bedrooms. I was sitting on my material bin for a while, then borrowed a chair from BPS, and now I finally have my own chair...
Okay, okay, I know. Some of you reading this are thinking, "enough about the table, already!" . Because, you see, there was a reason, unbeknownst to me, that we needed to get this table.

Now, we'll skip to Tuesday afternoon.
11:58.
Trevor comes home in the van for lunch{he had taken it over to the shop to check the service engine soon light} This is unusual for him, to be early for lunch. But he came in and said he had run out to town to get some things, and he made it back right before lunch so he just came home. "I brought a present home for you," he said.
"Oh really?" was my reply.
"Yeah, but I left it in the van. You'll have to come out to see it." So I went out to the van.
{you'll notice that there is nothing in this picture but the van door. the inside of the van door}

I opened the door and saw a duffel bag sitting inside.
My thought? You brought me back a duffel bag?
And then I looked up.
Talk about a "magical moment". I heard "SURPRISE!" and then my mom and sisters were jumping out of the van at me.
Needless to say, I cried. To see those dear faces again, and to hold them in my arms was more than I could have ever imagined.

Then I turned around and hugged Trevor and thank him for his part in this.

They were only here until lunchtime on Thursday. But, oh, the laughing, crying, and talking that filled my house while they were here! When they were gone, my house felt so quiet that I cried almost all day Thursday. I was a wreck.

The time had been so short. But the memories were wonderful. And some of those memories were made around that new table. We ate, we talked,we made pizza, we played games, and we just joined our hearts there. Again.
I think it was a great way to start making memories on that new table.

I can't wait for the memories to come.
