{write down memories}
Seriously, you won't regret this. I have a book that I call my memory book. It's just a simple composition notebook, but every time I get that nostalgic feeling and memories wash over me, it becomes so much more.
It's like reading my life story. Sure, the memories are in all mixed up order, but the fact is that they're there. I can't count the times that I've gone to write down a memory, then taken time to go back through and read a bit. It's sad but there are ones in there that I have forgotten already, but I'm glad I'd written them down.
My sister prompted me to do this years ago. I've been writing down memories since I was thirteen. And sometimes I find ones in there that I've already written down, but it doesn't matter. Better to have it written twice than forgotten forever.
I imagine someday tucking my kids in bed. They'll ask me for a story, and I'll reach over and pull out the memory book. I'll pick out one or two memories and begin, "Now, this happened when I was a little girl...", and I'll get to share my childhood with them and relive it myself.
So take the time to write down memories. Life flies by too fast to forget the little moments that happen every day.
