{my grandma's prayer}
><>as heard one night while bunking above her<><
"Dear Lord," she prayed in earnest,
"Please hear my prayer tonight.
I pray for all my children
To come to know your Light.
I know that you can answer.
I'm askin'. I have faith."
She didn't know I heard her.
She couldn't see my face.
But I lay there and I listened.
I listened and I cried.
I cried to have a faith like hers
Until the day I die.
To have that sense of caring,
And have such deep, strong love.
I listened as she finished,
And then from up above,
I heard the calm of her breathing
In the quietude of sleep.
I cried a little longer
And then without a peep,
"Dear Lord," I prayed in earnest,
"Help me grow up to be
A woman of faith like she is,
Who prays for her family."
