{PROJECTS // door decor}

I don't usually decorate for Valentine's Day, but this year I decided to.

Maybe it was memories of when I was little and my mom put out some pink and red decorations and my aunt dressed her whole house up in hearts and lacy decor.

Maybe it's because I'm feeling so overwhelmed in BOY in this house that I needed an excuse for pink.

At any rate, I wanted to make some Valentine decorations. And the first thing I made was a heart for the front door.

I couldn't find a tutorial on Pinterest for something like this, so I decided to make my own for you all.

I started out with wire, red string, red and pink baker's twine {I love using baker's twine in my projects!} and a pair of needle-nose pliers.
 First I shaped a heart out of the wire. I tried to make it the same size as a small wreath, since I planned on hanging it on the front door.
 Next I took red string and tied it to the top of one side of the heart.
 Then began the long process of wrapping around and around. As a side note, it helps to go inside and outside the heart, as this helps keep the string from sliding down the sides somewhat. I didn't figure it out until I was more than halfway done.
 I then added some baker's twine, though not as much as the red string.
 Lastly, I tied a bit of red ribbon to hang it by. And that was it!
Happy Friday!
