{PROJECTS // semi-circle bunting}

Hey! It's me again! It seems like I always put of posting on here because I "never have anything to post about". But last night as I sat and looked through all the old pictures on my camera, I realized there are a lot of projects I never posted about, even though I took the pictures for them. So maybe you'll see me on here more often, even though the projects have been completed for a while.

And, hey, it's about time for another currently post, too.
But not today. Today I actually have a current project post! This summer, I made a patriotic bunting for my mantle (side note here-I LOVE having a mantle to decorate!). But when I made it I went a little overboard and cut out waaay too many triangles. So that bunting ended up being a few yards long.

Note to self...measure the mantle first

So the other day when I was taking my patriotic decor down, I thought I would try the bunting out in the bay window in our kitchen instead. And it looks perfect! So it all worked out in the end.

I felt like my mantle decor was really angular, though. So I thought I would make a small white bunting for the mirror. And that's what we're here to talk about today. How about a "how-to"?

This bunting was super simple and quick to make. A lot faster than the triangle one, actually! Of course, it wasn't anywhere near as long. I measured across the mirror at a bit of an angle, and then added around two inches to each end of the string. I used baker's twine for this because I couldn't find the hemp twine I usually use for stuff like this.

First step after measuring your length is to tie a knot with a big loop on both ends. These are to make hanging easier.
 Next, you have to pick a size circle. Or if you're me, you pick out a bowl or cup that looks like it would be a good size and use that as a tracing tool. I used the bowl that was on the coffee table from Reuben's snack (haha!). It measured about 4 1/4 inches across. I traced several circles onto white fabric...
 then cut them out.
 Sorry this picture is blurry...I didn't realize until now that it was. The next step is to hot glue the circles onto the string to make semi-circles. I glued a line in the center of the circle,
 placed the string onto it, and then put three dots of glue around the bottom half. Then I folded the circle down, pressing the edges together on the glue dots.
 And after repeating that a few times, we're done!

Here's how I hung it on my mirror. I wanted it kind of crooked so it seemed to flow into the other decorations. I love the way it turned out! And now I can't decide whether I like the triangle or semi-circle bunting better.

What do you think?

Aren't mantels just lovely? I miss the one in NC. I really can't decide which I like better, but what a good idea with the hot glue!
