{bedroom redo}

It's been a long time. I realize that. And I apologize. It seems like once the summers begin down here, my blog gets neglected. To add to that, my computer is on the verge of dying. So that makes posting a little more difficult. I did so many projects before the summer and even took pictures of them, but somehow they never made it here. I can't even remember what they all were! But I figured it's time to catch up.

I thought a good place to start would be with a major project. That would be the repainting of our bedroom.

When I started to think about painting the bedroom, I was thinking of doing a nice grayish-tan. But I kept seeing pictures on Pinterest of blue bedrooms. Light blues and soft teals...and I am really into blues right now. Especially teals. So when it came time to pick a color...I picked a teal shade of blue. Slightly green. Very relaxing.

When it came time to paint, the strangest and most disappointing thing happened. At the end of the day, the walls looked blue to me. Sky blue. I don't know where the green tint went but I couldn't see it anymore.

Honestly, I wanted to cry.

But I didn't. I focused on the positive. No more paneling!!

And slowly, it has grown on me. Lesson learned though; don't try for such a bold color!

 I worked on this collage for a few weeks before the room was even painted. I don't know where I came up with the idea...maybe it was my love for mountains. I thought it might be fun to do a blue room with a mountain theme instead of a beach theme. *smirk* Anyway, my idea with this collage was to do several pictures of mountains, all in a different "form" of art. So we have a silhouette on top {which I actually painted five years ago}, a painting on cloth in the left hoop, a sketch in the middle, embroidery in the right hoop, a tiny painting on a piece of slate {also painted years ago...I think I posted about that}, and a chalk drawing. I think the chalk one is my favorite.
 This shelf was also built months ago and I also posted about it before. But decorated the top better now and I thought I'd share that too. I mainly used some vintage-style National Park post cards that I got at Carlsbad Caverns a few years ago. They were all framed, and then I added the feather and barbed-wire star to the collection. Not to be forgotten are Trevor's cologne and my Avonlea fund!
 And lastly comes the curtain we bought to match the room. I know it's a little hard to tell the pattern but I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. It matches the walls perfectly.
 I was originally waiting to post about the room until it was completely finished. I have a few more projects I'd like to do, like reframe a mirror and find a nice charcoal-gray comforter. But I guess that just gives me something to post about in the future!

What do you think of how the blue turned out?
Would you paint a room blue?
Which picture in the collage is your favorite?

I think it turned out well! I'm not usually big on blue, but I think it goes well with your other colors and theme. I like the chalk drawing the best :)
The room looks good, Liv! Sorry about the paint color.....next time you should take dad! HA! The color does pull the blues from the framed postcards though. My favorite picture is the slate painting....but I also like the silhouette, always did.

How can one pick a favorite mountain picture? I Love them all! Did you embroider the hoop?

I know, it's hard for me too! I love them all. Yes I embroidered the hoop. But I did it in big stitches so it looks smooth.
