{Homemade Detergent}
Seems all I post about anymore is wash...oh well. I guess that's what life is about now...
Anyways, I went to do wash the other day and realized that I was almost out of All detergent, which I've had and been using since we've been married. So I decided it was time for a pinterest project. I have several recipes for homemade detergent pinned and decided to try this one. Mainly because you don't have to cook it and let it sit. It's simple.
You will need:
4 lb. box of 20 Mule Team Borax
4 lb box of Arm and Hammer washing soda
4 lb A&H baking soda
3 bars of Fels-Naptha soap
and a container to store it in
First you grate the bars of soap. Fels-Naptha has been around since 1894 and smells amazing!
Is it cheese or Fels-Naptha? You'd only know if you smell...
Then (and I really don't think the order matters) I added baking soda which has been around since, well, I don't know, maybe forever?
Then I added the washing soda, around since 1874....
Then I added the Borax, around since 1891. Are you getting my drift here? Things made a long time ago must still work great, because they still sell them. I'm willing to try them. You know how I am about old things.
Then get a spoon and "just give it one big ole stir!" Okay, not really. I had to stir this for a while to make sure the soap was all mixed in. But here it is all finished. You only have to use 1-2 T per load, so it should last me a while.
This cost me around $18. But it should last me at least 9 months, according to the blog I got this from. So I reckon I am saving money in the long run. And that makes my day.
