{day twenty-three|a guide...sort of|}
Okay, so I don't like sharing on the internet where I live. Hence I have never mentioned the name of my city. And I still don't plan to. Unfortunately, today's challenge is to write a guide to your city.
Also unfortunately, I couldn't give you a guide to my city if I wanted to. There is very little that I have actually done or gone and seen here. And I don't go beyond a certain point when I'm out and about by myself. But I'll tell you some things I have done here in my city, which shall remain nameless.
We're not really city people. I guess I should start with that. But this is where God has called us, so here we are, in the city.
Near by are some mountains that we've hiked on. They don't compare to the Colorado Rockies at all, but at least there are mountains close by. If you hike there, remember to take plenty of water with you.
I think El Taco Tote is a regional thing, but I'm not sure. It's a taco fast food restaurant, and Mechanic Man loves it. I think I still prefer Chipotle, though.
There is a nice scenic overlook above the city. We take the church groups up there to start out their missions trip. You can see for miles, across the city and into Mexico.
I always hunt out thrift stores. In the areas that I go to we have a few Goodwills and a Savers. I'm still trying to find more.
And lastly, for kicks around here we occasionally take a fourwheeler ride into the desert or go to the frog pond and shoot. I guess I should explain about the frog pond.
It isn't really a pond. Well, sometimes it is. When it rains a lot here in the desert, the water rushes off the mountains behind us and floods down through the arroyos around the property. Because of this, I think they had problems with flooding. So the frog pond was built to prevent that. Now, when the rains come rushing off the mountains they fill the frog pond. And it actually looks like a pond, albeit a dirty, smelly one. But if the water stays in it for a while the frogs will come out and live in the water for a while and make a whole bunch of noise. And when the water goes away, I think the frogs bury themselves in the mud until the next storm comes along.
Exciting, huh? Well, I guess that just about sums up what I know of our city.
