I couldn't seem to come up with a decent name for this post, but I thought I'd just post some pictures of what's been going on around here. I hope it doesn't bore you out of your mind...

We got these bookshelves for free several months ago from somebody on property down here. They're just the cheap ones you can buy at Walmart, and after a few months of holding my many books, the shelves began to sag in the middle. I had been planning all along to re-back them with some old pallet boards, and we finally got around to doing it over New Year's. I was so excited with how they turned out!
I think I like this one a little bit more, because of the red boards. Either way they both turned out great, and they're so much sturdier now.
Yesterday morning when I let Hancock out, I had the strangest feeling I was being watched. And I was.
I looked up, and there he was, Mr. Roadrunner himself, sitting on the ledge of our trailer.
He was very suspicious of me, and almost as soon as I finished taking pictures, he flew down and ran into the desert.
For a while after Christmas I had let my Christmas chalk art just sit because I couldn't figure out what to put. Then I saw one of the pictures from Colorado and this came to mind. Of course, I did a little Pinterest-browsing too.
You'll find that a lot of this post is just new ways that I've decorated. This picture is an early birthday present from my mom. The lanterns light up and flicker, and I love the rustic look of it. It's hanging beside the front door.
When I unwrapped my Christmas present from my older sister, I was so excited. I brought it home and decided to make a "collage" because the frame of her picture matched my mirror and the stars that I hang my aprons on. Oh, and if you look in the reflection in the mirror, you'll see the red kitchen clock my parents bought for us.
This is another Pinterest idea. I've been looking for a colorful dish drainer to use for a long time, but never could find a cheap enough one. The other day I decided to look through some free stuff here on property for something else and saw this instead! So I brought it home, and put all my cookbooks in it.
This was another project Mr. Mechanic Man helped me with. It turned out much larger than I thought it would, but I'm glad I don't have to store my toilet paper under the sink or by the stove anymore. I'm hoping to eventually get an old license to replace the wire on the front.
I've been trying to do some more sewing because I have a closet that's got material all over the place. The other day I lengthened a church dress, and currently I'm making a cloth belt, which I hope to have finished by this afternoon. Then who knows what's next. Maybe I should consider finishing that apron I started weeks ago...

Oh, and it's that time of year when I scramble to get or make everyone birthday presents. Our family's birthdays run January, February, March, April, May, and October, so obviously we've got several in a row. And this doesn't even include Mr. Mechanic Man's family's birthdays because he still hasn't told me those... Anyway, I've made my older sister's present already because her birthday is first. But obviously I can't post that yet...

Well, I guess that's enough for now. Time to finish that belt so I can check that off my "to sew" list, and move on to that apron.
